Out with the old, in with the new!

A happy house is a clean house!

1. Wash your house – House cleaning will get its due come spring, but when was the last time you had a house washing? As you prepare for 2012, consider the mold, mildew, dirt, and algae accumulations on your home’s exterior. The New Year is the perfect time to wash away the old and make your home look like new again. Westlake Power Washing specializes in house washing: Stone, Limestone, & Stucco Cleaning; Mold & Mildew Removal; Algae Removal; Roof, Gutter, Deck, & Driveway Cleaning, Pool, Patio, & Outdoor Furniture Cleaning; and Wood Restoration.

Our motto for 2012?

Out with the mold, mildew, dirt, and algae buildup; in with the stone, stucco, siding, decking, and pavers that look like new!!

Nothing feels better than driving in a clean car!

2. Wash the car – inside and out! It’s simple enough to go through a car wash or detail it. Now is the time to take advantage of your time off and take stock of your car’s clutter. What kind of clutter tends to accumulate? What organizational features will help prevent clutter in the New Year?

3. De-clutter your house – Go room to room with a laundry basket and load it with unsightly, unnecessary clutter. Everything remaining should have a purpose: function or beauty. If it doesn’t have a place, it doesn’t belong in your space!

4. Update your files – Come tax season, you’ll be grateful you did. Some documents you keep forever (personal health records) and some you can toss/recycle as soon as they’re recorded (ATM receipts). After you get rid of the old, consider minimizing or even eliminating new paper clutter by converting to e-statements. Be sure to invest in a good shredder to properly dispose of sensitive information.

5. Declutter your computer – Clean up your desktop: move files to personal folders, delete unnecessary files and shortcuts to seldom used programs, and empty your recycle bin. Organize your personal photos and documents by date, type, or other category, and stick to it in the New Year. Finally, back up your hard drive!

6. Clean out your refrigerator & pantry – If the mold doesn’t give it away, check expiration dates on condiments and staples. If it went bad, consider buying smaller containers next time. Replace the box of baking soda in the back of your fridge and freezer. Throw out any foods that aren’t doing you or your family any good and replace them with healthy alternatives!

7. Clean out your closets – If you can afford to keep up with trends, more power to you! Otherwise, you can keep your wardrobe current by buying quality, timeless pieces. Either way, if you haven’t worn it for over a year, donate it!
